Message to Future Students
Peggy Shih, FCU-RMIT Program
Hello, I am Peggy. Why I decided to choose this department at first was because I found that it enables me to experience different culture and environment in other nation; therefore, I didn’t consider a lot and registered for the interview, and luckily, I was accepted by this department. And of course, after studying in the class, I realized that it wasn’t as wonderful as my imagination. I always find it somewhat difficult during the classes or reviewing after school, because it is all in English, and the articles on the textbooks are usually of great length with words that I don’t know the meaning. Consequently, searching for words together with understanding the content of articles needs to spend plenty of time, and there are a lot of group homework as well as presentation which were the tasks that I am not familiar with, especially in the part of presentation, I don’t have much of this experience during high school time, so I always nervous about it. However, gradually I found that I am getting used to it. Therefore, maybe you are not adapted to these now, but what if you try to persist on it with your effort, then you may overcome it.
Also, with the time passed, some of your classmates might switch to other department or college to pursue the goal that is more suitable for their development. In this case, you might find yourself being influenced by the atmosphere, you could consider your condition carefully under this situation, thinking about your original attempt and object of joining this class or discussing it with your teachers. I can feel that most of the teachers in this department are care about the students, you can have a conversation with them regarding the questions about lessons or feeling uncertainly toward your future, I believe that you can get the practical advices by it.
Besides, I think that it will be more stressful when studying abroad, in order to be more competitive and able adjust to it, the ability about my language should be improved. And maybe you do not have the clear idea and the favorite major now, then you may look for the relevant information on the internet when you have time, such as the courses of each major and the progress or careers of it in future, after all, once you have the goal earlier, you would have more motivation to achieve it.
